Originally from Wales, UK (yes, it's a country). Travelled around Europe and the US in my twenties, and finally settled in San Diego, California in 1990, got married (to Lori) and had 2 kids (Emma and Nathan). I am currently Vice President, Engineering at Qualcomm (i.e. I need an outlet for stress).
I started geting interested in photography when my kids were born, and the recent advances in digital imaging have made this more exciting for me, being the techie geek that I am. After getting frustrated with Point and Shoot cameras (though I still use them frequently) I bought my first DSLR in 2005 - a Nikon D50, which I chose it because it was on sale at Costco. After finally figuring out how to use the thing (somewhat) properly, I recently bought a Nikon D300, and I'm now trying to pursuade my wife to let me buy some good quality lenses.
I don't really go out of my way to photograph, so I tend to take pictures of whatever I'm doing or wherever I happen to be going. I travel a lot, so I end up with photos of many interesting places, but I can only take photos when it's convenient for my family or work schedule. In other words, lots of pictures of family and landscapes in the middle of the day (handheld, of course).
