Photographer and Music Historian Phillip Rauls' photographs have been admired for over six decades and counting. His photos have produced many distinguishing images and the subject of countless conversations and viewpoints. Rauls photographs have created intellectually driven images that explore a diverse range of subjects while always being captured in a unrehearsed framework and void of staging. This unique template combined with the raw element of natural light settings has been the foundation of his photojournalistic-style work. This image characteristic has set him apart from other photogs. At an early age while becoming an art major in school, it became instinctive for him to recognize eye catching images. While starting out in the late 1960's with the possibility of being a concert photographer, he landed a job as a music promoter that allowed him a career to travel extensively. At this timely stage of affairs, many photo opportunities presented themselves, both related and unrelated. With camera in hand the global stage became his canvass. With camera and in hand, several newspapers and magazines printed his work as early as 1968-69. Those opportunities opened many doors and no doubt provided a foundation to this present day. Currently Phillip Rauls is still very active in his work and continues to build upon his vast photo archives. He resides on an island getaway in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and their labrador retriever.
