The Philippine Rice Information System (PRiSM) is an operational satellite-based rice monitoring of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Philippine Rice Research Institute (Philrice). This project is aligned to the first paradigm of DA to continue the modernization of Philippine agriculture as one of the keys to achieving rice sufficiency. PRiSM has revolutionized rice monitoring in the Philippines and how rice information is generated and shared through the synergistic integration of different state-of-the-art digital technologies including the satellite-based remote sensing, geographic information system, global positioning system, crop growth simulation modelling, smartphone-based field data collection, and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
