Hello! My name is Phen Mas and I am a young artist from Southern Louisiana, currently living on the east coast. If you ever want to visit New Orleans, please let me know and I’ll be glad to share with you my recommendations on places to stay, visit, and eat! I grew up in a lower middle class hard working family, where I learned the value of quality work, and living for what you believe in. I grew up with a large family from my mother’s side of Cajun background and culture. My grandfather is a Cajun fiddle player and story teller. My grandmother on my dad’s side was a painter and poet. They were both great influences to me. I spent four years in California studying photography at Brooks Institute and interning with Kevin Zacher. Kevin is a great influence and mentor for me. I have a clear vision for my work that translates in everything I do. I believe in expressing ideas in a youthful light. My vision is one that is organic-raw, and full of youthful energy. I am inspired by old rock images that capture the essence of an artist, but still tell a story. I believe you can structure and preplan an image, but still capture/present a truthful spontaneous expression.
