I take pictures for fun and find it very satisfying when I come away with something I like. I'm game to try any and all kinds of photography and digital processing and I'm always looking to refine my techniques.

Sometimes I like to go for a walk and take photos when it suits me, not just when the light is ideal. That is part of the reason why I take so many pictures of street art around Melbourne -- because it is best done when conditions are overcast and the light is flat (and I don't have to go very far). It is also why I converted an old camera to shoot in infrared -- because the pictures come out great when the sky is blue and the sunlight is harsh.

My general preference is for scenery and landscape shots. I take pictures of people too, sometimes, I just don't usually post them on Flickr. I'm not really into setting up (arranging elements) for a picture as I prefer to photograph things as I find them. Frequently I'll use exposure bracketing to allow the opportunity for high dynamic range processing or other types of exposure fusion.

I don't usually provide a detailed description of the techniques and processes used to produce a published picture -- partly because I'm too lazy, and partly because I like the picture to be viewed on its own merits not having regard to what may have been done to it. If anyone has any questions though, please don't hesitate to get in contact and I'll do my best to help out.

Photography is a very subjective art. For some people photojournalism is the truest form. For others only images captured on film will do, and still others consider black and white photography the most pure. I believe each has its place, but my personal aspirations are toward images that speak for themselves, no matter how they are produced, with no explanation required.

I'm not fussed if you want to use an image of mine on your blog or the like, as long as you include a link back to my Flickr page. If the image is to be used commercially, however, we'll have to come to some sort of licensing arrangement. The easiest way to do that is through Getty Images, but other arrangements are also possible (except for a handful of pictures that are exclusive to Getty). If you want a print of an image for non-commercial purposes (e.g. to hang on your wall), please send me a Flickr-mail and we'll work something out.
