As an artist I create another reality with photographs of animals that I take myself. All the images you can see here are digitally made. They come straight from my imagination.

I'm known for the animals portraits on human bodies. With them I've been invited to several exhibitions and my work is published around the world, through magazines and postal cards. It's also on countless blogs! I’m also a Getty photographer.

My goal is to bring a smile on peoples faces. It’s simple. My world is rooted in an aesthetic ideal, a nostalgic late nineteenth, early twentieth century. I love creating surreal images and I hope that you'll enjoy seeing them here. By the way, they also look good on a wall ;-)

Thanks for stopping by.

What I love about your photos is that they are so unique and different. I too adore animals, I believe thier souls are more elevated than humans, you touch on this... Amazing and a lot of work goes into your pictures. You are an artist!

Martine is one of the most extraordinarily gifted artists on Flickr. Her soulful images evoke an enchanted world where animals are equal to humans and deserve our deepest respect. You are a master of fine art, Martine, and I'm honored have one of your fine prints which I treasure.

Ever wished you could bring a cam in your dream? Well this is the kind of stuff you could capture. A stroll in Martine's stream can beat all dream translation book hands down! It like falling asleep over and over again and wishing you wouldn't wake up ever again.

Petite Chose...means "Little Thing"... Well, nothing is "little" in Petite Chose's work. She's amazingly creative, funny, skilly and gentle. A great humanity comes out of her pictures thru the clearly love of animals. We feel that for her, any tiny living thing has importance on the planet. Her art is brilliant. Petite… Read more

To define Martine would be like defining the moon! Where do you begin? To know Martine is to love Martine seems a good start. She's French, yes, but we cant hold that against her! When I think of her, I think of her clad in a loose Breton jumper on a Bodega Bay beach fighting off attacking Seagulls Or I see her on a speedboat charging down the grand central canal in Venice with Carry Grant behind the wheel Or I see her dying of thirst, walking across the vastness of the Sahara Desert dragging poor Boudi (who's got a heart murmur and cant take the heat) Crying out'' Water, Water, Eau Petillante!'' But then I see her in sepia, clad in her jungle kaki's playing Amelia Lockheart, Martine the famous Aviatrix boarding an old twin-wing and flying down to a lions den on the Great Rift Valley, back combing a lion's maine and creating a Jean Cocteau bouffant... Oh, and she takes great Fotos! I wrote the above when Martine took her first steps with Photoshop.. She's come a long way since then and I now add this: In Petite Chose's world everything is turned upside-down. Don't let her sweet pastoral fairy tale images fool you into a false sense of security, she is up there with the best surrealistic political satirists. Her images are also about everyday life, women's lives transposed to animal, for an example her golden Labrador 'Boudi' becomes 'Nanny', these are sometimes whimsical and sometimes moral but all are funny! Its worth stopping and reading her texts below these pictures for added insight, both in English and French, but after viewing the slideshows, I believe they stand up by themselves.

her surreal compositions are consistently some of the most original and imaginative images on flickr. sometimes i see her work as magritte meets monty python meets maurice sendak - but even THAT puts it in too small a box. all i know is that her stream always makes for such a wonderful visual journey!

I have recently come across the weird and wonderful world of Martine and I love it. Her photos are original and witty and I never get tired seeing and reading about her many creations. It is a rare thing to have such originality - long may she continue to shine!
