I'm a part time photographer living in southern Tasmania who moved here from Western Australia to work for a "year or two". That was 1993, and I'm still here; something any immigrant to Tasmania will understand!

I have a diverse and busy background including forest research, musician, sound engineer and software developer. These days I spend my time working in marine research and, of course, taking photographs.

I like trying different things in photography, but my main passion is wilderness/landscape photography. The following is a piece I wrote in 1991 that reflects what I feel when I'm there.

I Awaken

to sounds of crisp daylight

The sun, warm on my skin

Clear blue water ripples with expectation

The sand folds comfortably under my weight

The forest behind taps me on the shoulder

And reminds me

This is where I need to be
