Pete Thottam is a progressive attorney, local Occupy & community activist and organizer of the recent Jan 1-2, 2012 Occupy The Rose Parade actions. In 2010, Pete ran as one of eight 2010 CA State Assembly candidates for the 53rd Assembly District and won 2,000 votes (he votes obtained constituted the best performance of the top candidates that ran on a dollar-per-vote basis by a margin of 300+% over the next best performing candidate. In mid-2011 Pete left the Democratic Party and registered as an Indendent.
Previously, Mr. Thottam was the founder and Executive Director of the nationally covered Los Angeles National Impeachment Center (LANIC) from 2007 to 2008. LANIC was staffed by over 160 regional volunteers who focused for over a year on securing the impeachment of George Bush & Dick Cheney. Pete Thottam has been a foreclosure & banking reform activist as well as a volunteer with KPFK/Pacifica, the Sierra Club and many Los Angeles based progressive groups. At Yale University he majored in (1) Economics and (2) Ethics, Government & Philosophy. He has a law degree from UC Berkeley, an MBA from UCLA Anderson and previously worked for investment bank Goldman Sachs and several of California's leading law firms. He lives in Venice, California, with his partner Kirstin, and their son, Luke.
