Ever since I was a child I have sought inspiration from nature. Annual trips to Scotland allowed me to indulge my passion for the outdoors and one aspect in particular offered excitement like nothing else… the mountains!

Although at first just looking at them satisfied me, I soon surrendered to my imagination and developed a need to explore the mountains. It started off with walking in the Lakeland fells with an uncle but this was only a temporary fix, I soon turned my attention to a more vertical playground in the form of the gritstone outcrops of the Peak District. This was to be the beginning of my love affair with climbing!

Climbing led me to situations that were previously unimaginable. I could never have envisaged myself standing high in the Swiss Alps gazing down upon a cloud inversion lit orange by the rising sun, or lying on my back watching a meteor shower from a bivouac on Helvellyn. At these times when I was confronted by immense beauty I felt compelled to take pictures.

After that it was only a matter of time before I started to go out with the sole intention of taking photos.

In 2011 I was fortunate enough to be chosen as the winner of the Landscape Photographer of Year 'Your View' Category.

Also in 2011 I was featured in Great British Landscapes Magazine:
