Pete has what I like to call a seductive aesthetic. If you spend enough time looking at that early work of Stephen Shore, pretty soon you're reaching for your camera every time you open the fucking fridge or sit down to some pancakes. While his work is entirely different from Shore's surfaces, Pete's provokes in a similar way. Plants, building, people - you realise he has the whole place sewn up. There are Pete shots everywhere. It's depressing that I see more Pete shots in the real world than I do images for myself; I'm reduced to scrabbling around in either the stuff he hasn't seen yet, or has seen and discarded, hoping to accumulate enough for my own sorry endeavours.
