I find it quaint that flickr allows you to share so much about yourself but frankly I don't think it really matters what I put in here. Either you like my photos and prints or you don't.
By the way, I am an old school photographer and printmaker. I do not like how digital is so pervasive that now everyone is a wedding photographer. It is kind of ironic how the technology is perceived as better when in fact digital is still very far behind film, even to this day (August 2010).
I used to have a myopic view of the world and everything in it, but these days I'm feeling rather much like a tiny sliver of the whole, but connected to everything else. I'm a piece of god like everyone else but the fact is, I'm a piece of god. And so are you.
I think most of my human experience has been in the pursuit of beauty. For me sometimes this is an emotional thing. I seek to communicate my take on life and existence through a variety of means, photographic only being a part of the process.
I do this out of love. And a fixation to fix a scene, forever, to freeze it, massage it, play with it, personalize it. The average negative can be printed in, I'd say, at least 3 or 4 different ways for different effects. Some negs go way beyond that, and also the techniques of print making are rich and varied as well. From silver gelatins to bromoils and gum prints, the spectrum of artistic effects is immeasurable. How I choose to fix a scene and how I choose to highlight it and draw your attention to one part or another, is all a part of an artistic expression.
I want you to simply enjoy looking at what I made for you to see. I hope I did a good job at that.
