I started taking photography more seriously when I started a blog and wanted to have a photo on each post. At the time it could take up to two weeks to get permission to use photos from cultural institutions. I wanted to respect copyright of photographers but didn't want to wait that long. So I decided to develop my own photo bank.

I am a keen blogger about history, mainly Australian history. Many of my photos here were first published on my blog. In the description for these photos I have recorded the URL for the blog post so that you can read the story behind the photo.
