I love colour and modern quilting. I spend far too much time on the computer drooling over everyone's delicious quilts and photos. When I'm not on the computer or in my sewing room, I'm reading or shopping or baking or watching a chick flick. I may also be out for coffee with a friend.
I am really inspired by nature and the beauty in everyday objects. If the light is right, most anything can have a magical quality about it. And if you pay attention to little details you will find beauty all around you.
I am married to an Egyptian and have lived in Cairo for a year. Its a pretty cool place, even if its really different from here. Now we live in BC. A little different, but it's my home!
I love chocolate and collecting nutcracker figurines. Actually, anything in a set together looks super nice. I like nice bright colours, but I also love shabby chic style stuff. I'm not big on holiday decorating, except for Christmas. I love surprises and when people make me stuff.
In terms of quilts and sewn items, I love scrappy more than something made from a single fabric line. That being said, there are some fabric lines that I really love. I like for them to have some zing. I love polka dots and solids, batiks are cool, not a big fan of muted traditional fabrics. I also adore fabrics with words or letters printed on them. I love stars and triangles in quilts. Oh, also square in a square or diamond.
Some colour combos I am into right now are: fushia, gold, turquoise, and navy; deep gold, cream, ivory, grey and light blue; black and white, aqua, lime, red and grey. I am really crushing on navy in general right now too.
