My subject is the Amsterdam neighbourhood known as the Pijp.
I live in the Pijp and I work in the Pijp. Hence I have opportunity enough (though I would not mind more) to take shots in that neighbourhood.
My aim is to show that there are many more interesting details in the Pijp than most inhabitants -- let alone tourists -- are aware of, though I also post pictures of better-known objects, in order to get a more-or-less complete portrait of the neighbourhood, which is another aim. That is a long-term aim, though, and I wonder if there will ever come a day when I think: now I have a complete portrait of the Pijp, the project is finished. If only because the Pijp is different every moment: buildings are demolished, new ones arise. Buildings and details of them have a different appearance in morning or evening light. Summer or winter can make quite a difference, too. The Pijp, I can tell you, offers new views each time you visit her and will keep me busy for a while. As a matter of fact I am glad she does.
One particular aim is also to demonstrate that there is something worth noticing in every street in the Pijp (something permanent, that is, or rather: something that can be seen by anyone going there at a later moment), so my stream should include at least one picture of something interesting in each street in the Pijp. I have not achieved that yet, but I am working on it and am fairly certain that I will reach that point one day.
Most pictures, if not all, have been edited: made lighter, darker, cropped, rotated, contrast strengthened or weakened, whatever. However, I do not retouch: if there is an ugly wire across the object, I leave it.
Meanwhile thanks for your attention!
