I started my working life as an industrial chemist in the pharmaceutical industry, but, after 11 years, I was so sensitive to drugs, that I needed to change direction, so...
After 30 years in the Old Bill, (Police) in Kent and Medway Towns, I retired and worked for a further 11 years at Chatham Dockyard as a ropemaker living at Whitstable on the North Kent coast, and this is why there are many watery pictures
Contacts - I love having contacts, and I will comment on your pictures if they attract me, but, please do not expect me to comment on those that have nothing to comment on! I will give as honest an opinion as possible, and will sometimes make what I hope are constructive criticisms.
I do try to limit my contacts to less than 100 so that I can look at your pictures and comment
I do not give, or want those flashy slogans and logos, and instead prefer to use words to make remarks.
I never use that word 'awesome' as a single word critique, as this implies that the writer is too lazy to expand with more words, and as for that misused and misunderstood word of 'Bokeh' this is the only time that you will see me use it.
I know, I am a miserable, moaning old git, but that is what retired Police Officers become !!!! - I was born 100s of years ago in 1940
So, PLEASE do not add invites to 'post one, comment five pools' or pools that require me to use those awful comment codes as theses are merely SPAM, and never, ever ask me to join, or add to a group that uses a sweeper, because this says to me that the admin. in that group is far too idle and inward looking to peruse the images that do not have the requisite attributes, and will be dictatorial in their attitude
I am using mainly Nikon D700 and D5000 along with compacts for ease of carrying at my age, 70 years, a 8 mile walk along the coast here becomes wearisome with the Reflexes. Most of my processing is done in Nikon Capture NX2 or Aperture 3.
I am firmly of the belief that the camera never delivers what I saw, or envisaged, at the time of taking, so all of my photos are processed in Nikon Capture NX2 or Aperture to get result that I wanted or saw at the time - I never use SOOC as that implies that I let the camera do all of the work, and tells me what I want to see !

I was initially drawn to Peter's stream because I enjoyed his interest in the history and beauty he brought in his images of England. Since then, I've found him to be a well rounded and interesting photographer. He doesn't stay in a certain mode and his photos are not only rich with content but varied and unique. This makes him stand out from the crowd of mediocrity. I also appreciate his integrity and honestly that exudes in every image, description and comment he makes.
