Blessed with uncommon dexterity and a gifted eye, Ali rose to prominence in the early '80's as an A list sharpshooter for the United States Marines. After completing a successful stint in the Gulf War I, where she bagged no less than 35 enemy combatants, Ali returned home, to her family's ranch in Wyoming. Over the next several years, she became internationally known as a steerhand, and even went on to win gold at the Miss Universe Goat Lassoer Championship before officially retiring in 1987. It was at this point that she began to experience her fainting spells that would become more debilitating with each passing day. It wasn't until 1994 that she was unofficially diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome. Since then, Ali has been trying to put the pieces of her life back togther. Her dreams are still haunted by slain men and burning oil, but she is finding her own peace. Photography serves as a creative outlet and a way of expressing her rage at the government's continued denial of her condition and that of countless others.
