I'm a writer, engaged in a constant flirtatious feud with words. On occasions, in the peaceful hours before dawn, I'll assemble words in such an order that they dance all by themselves. That makes everything worth while.

I love the way photos snap freeze the tiniest shards of time and allow us to examine them with a forensic eye, pixels assembled on a page like words, glowing all manner of colours in the eye of the beholder.

Flickr has shown me what is possible with a standard digital camera and an inquisitive eye.

I bought my first camera in April 2003. Now it's hard to imagine seeing life without it.
