I think it is awesome to be among so many talented photographers. I have seen some wonderful photos and my goal is to meet, greet, share photos and learn as much as I can about photography.
Since I have been on Flickr I have moved from a beginner to an advanced beginner. My goal is to master my camera, which is a Canon Rebel XTi, and all of the lenses, flash and filters. Right now I have a standard lens, 75 - 300 mm & 28 - 135 mm lenses. I love learning about natural light and composition. I'm hoping to get into a class one day and learn all of the basics.
UPDATE: It's been two years since I posted my first photo on flickr. Back then, I felt a little intimidated when I posted my photos and wrote the note above. I have sustained some entertaining teasing about my "beginner" status. Some of my flicker friends will be happy that I am updating this description. (I won't mention John's name or Tim's or... lol)
First, I would like to say thank you to the many teachers I have on flickr -- some of you do not even know that you teach but you do. Without you, my learning would probably progress at a snail's pace. I have also seen some of the most beautiful and breath taking photos here and I know I will continue to see them.
Second, I want to mention that I have finally taken two classes from the local college and I have been taught the basics of photography and the dark room. I will receive a certificate instead of credit toward a degree. I am continuing my studies by learning artifical lighting and portraiture over the next year. This will be a new venture for me because I know very little about lights and photographing people.
And third, I cannot call myself a beginner anymore. I think I will update my status to simply say that I am now a serious student of photography and I am looking to learn as much as I can. Photography, along with writing, nutrition and learning what I can about God are my passions.
Thank you for stopping by and I look foward to further learning with my fellow photographers.

I feel that I too, have to underline that Pam is much too humble as her vista is so sharp and her talent very wide. And Pam we are all learners as I learn from you and many other Flickr contacts, sharing with you is a great experience!

Read the profile Pam has written for herself and you'll think she's an earnest beginner; then look through her sets and you'll see that you've been snookered. Pam's eye for composition and varied subjects often combine with her love of lush colors to create images that are feasts for our eyes. Her photographs occasionally approach perfection; they always display her obvious passion for each subject. She is modest, humble, intelligent, and hungry for learning and self-improvement. I find both her attitude and her work refreshing. Here is an artist who, no matter how accomplished she becomes, will always be striving and changing and growing. Watching that process through her photographs here is a joy.
