My two profiles on Flickr:
I have this one, which focuses on my creative work, and a second profile, which focuses on events that I shoot on a volunteer basis. I've organized my portfolio here into various groupings (Flickr collections) of albums:
• Chronological groupings in Bi-monthly albums: Early (2016-2019), Recent (2020-Present)
• Topical groupings: My best work, Sports, Places, Shooting Styles / End-products, Concerts / Events, Various other subjects
A little about myself and how I became the photographer I am today:
My wife and I live near Atlanta, Georgia. I'm the father of five grown children and have lived here most of my life, having moved here from Minnesota after graduating from college.
For years, I've loved taking shots with point-n-shoots, while out on walks and at church or family events. I was in my high school's photo club and took a photography class while in college. No formal training beyond that. Over the years, I slowly developed an eye for composition and skill in post editing. Near the end of 2015, I finally upgraded to a mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses and started using Lightroom. In November of 2019, my Samsung broke beyond repair, so I upgraded to a used Sony a7rIII full-frame. Then, in April of 2025, I upgraded again to a Sony a1, mostly for the higher frame rates and better autofocus features. My main go-to lenses are the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II (sometimes coupled with Sony's 1.4x Teleconverter) lenses. From time to time, I also make use of a Sony 85mm f/1.8, and two Samyang lenses: the 18mm f/2.8 and 45mm f/1.8.
I always shoot RAW and most often bracketed shots in order to create HDRs with Photomatix Pro, before performing edits with Lightroom and reducing digital noise with Topaz Denoise AI. Note below, the full list of the software that I employ in my workflow.
I dabble a bit with photo-sphere, gigapixel, and stereo images. Check out my work at the respective links!
I've toyed with the idea of finding employment where my photography skills are needed. Here is my photography resume.

The intersecting of my photography and my journey of faith
I've heard it said, "Following Jesus will make your life better and make you better at life". That has worked out as true in my own life in many ways, including my interest in photography. Jesus loves every person that views my portfolio. So when they view pictures that I've taken of God's creation (especially His best creation: people) I want them to see evidence of an awesome creator and a loving heavenly Father; that as a result, they would move just a step closer to him. If you have a few minutes, please check out my story. You also might like to watch some recent series of talks by Andy Stanley. I've also put online a PDF containing my interpretation of the Lord's Prayer and supporting scripture that I often use for my daily time alone with God. You might find it helpful and inspiring.
One of my own "Tricks of the Trade": Ditch the viewfinder
One thing you'll notice about my work, is that I try my best to shoot at or near ground level. Why? Because most of the time, the ground (especially pavement or red Georgia clay) is unattractive, if not downright UGLY! So, I avoid shooting it as much as possible. To reduce the amount of exposure that the ground gets in an image, one must move the camera to a position lower than one can comfortably look through the viewfinder. So - my recommendation: ditch the viewfinder. Look at the screen! Sure, sometimes bright sunlight conditions make the viewfinder the better option. But when you get in the habit of using the screen, with your camera near the ground, the new perspective opens up a whole new world for you!

My software:
Camera Bits Photo Mechanic - I use this only to cull through a large set of captures, to find the keepers that I will edit in Lightroom. It lets you preview images in a fraction of the time it takes in Lightroom.
Adobe Lightroom Classic - My main organizing and editing tool.
Adobe Photoshop - I use this pretty much only for it's "Generative fill" feature, to remove distracting background objects and to fill in the wedges on the edges that are created when rotating an image.
Photomatix Pro – I use for creating natural looking HDRs from bracketed shots
PTGui Pro – I use for generating panorama images from several in-line shots.
Topaz Photo - I use for eliminating noise/grain in high ISO captures, enlarge low resolution images, and sharpen blurry objects.

A couple things, for those who follow Jesus or are considering it
1. My story
This is a short YouTube video in which I offer a peak at the pivot point in my life which shapes my perspective about every one and every thing, including my photography. I've done my best to make the video visually engaging - with photos and graphic elements instead of me just talking. So check it out!
2. A case or two for Jesus
If you're someone who has left the Christian faith, is from another faith tradition, or has never been interested in that kind of stuff at all, you might find that either of these two series of talks is something that will (re)spark interest in following Jesus.
Case A: "Verdict" video series
The series by Andy Stanley addresses criticisms of reliability of the accounts of Jesus' life that are portrayed in the New Testament.
1. Opening Statements - youtu.be/R5G5CrcNFks
2. Calling the Witnesses - youtu.be/iWJI2g8ptHc
3. Closing Arguments - youtu.be/9X0ON4Lbrhw
Note that each of these videos start with a few minutes of drama, staged in a court room. If you want to skip directly to Andy's talks, in each video's description is a chapter index you can use to skip the courtroom drama. Note also that this is simply a good introduction to Christian apologetics.. If your curiosity is piqued, check out this famous resource which was recently updated in 2017.
Case B: "Investigating Jesus" video series
A more recent, 6-part series by Andy in which he takes another approach at presenting a case for following Jesus.
3. A place to ask your big questions
If you are in the Atlanta or Athens areas and in one of the three categories above and its because you have some big unanswered questions, try attending Starting Point at a local NPCC gathering. Here's a 1-minute promotion video about it.
4. The Lord's Prayer
I've placed online a PDF containing my interpretation of the Lord's Prayer and supporting scripture that I often use for my daily time alone with God. You might find it helpful and inspiring.
