No matter where you go, there they are: abandoned places. For me, these places are analogous to history museums. Instead of tightly curated selections with detailed labels, these are historic artifacts in the wild, in all their genuine messiness. The photographer and the viewer are encouraged to make sense of the history and to construct their own narrative. These subjects are typically unprotected and quite ephemeral. The photographs can become true snapshots in time, a rare lasting record of their existence. Locations are across the USA and Europe, also in Brazil, Japan, and Egypt.
