About the Pana Project

The Pana Project is a self-initiated pilot project in humanitarian design, created by Christine Zevnik and Jude Polsky for the Architectural Technologies program at SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The two are working alongside their mentor, instructor Marc Bussiere, to design a trade school for the Mayan town of Panajachel, Guatemala. Their project sponsor is Wayne Skogman of the Be One to Help Foundation in Okotoks, who set them up with their NGO in Panajachel, Mayan Families.

Christine and Jude began their project in the summer of 2010, and this blog picks up with their site visit to Guatemala in February of 2011. The two students are indebted to the '88 Olympic Legacy Fund at SAIT for funding their research trip and the School of Construction, which granted the funds for their instructor to accompany them.
