I received my first camera when I was about 10 years old, a Kodak Instamatic of some kind. It's still lying around somewhere. By the time I was 14 I had my own darkroom (the outside loo) and to this day I remember the thrill of seeing the days shoot appearing on the paper in the developer tray!
I had to wait until after dark as the old outside toilet was less than lightproof.
I worked in a couple of camera shops in the Shire after leaving school, Des Grey's at Engadine and Jock Leates in Miranda and Hurstville. I soon realised I preferred using cameras rather than trying to sell them and was lucky enough to obtain a photographer cadetship with The Daily Mirror when I was 17.
To this day I am an avid fan of photography. I adapted to the digital world easily and would describe myself as intermediate to advanced in regards to post-production software like Phase One, Lightroom and Photoshop, and whilst knowledgeable in the theories of actual photography, I think I'm very much a learner and probably always will be.
My current cameras are a Canon EOS M3 and the sensational Canon EOS 80D.
