{The Lumix Micro 4/3 is now my primary kit, when not travelling - the size and weight are far easier to handle, and modern noise removal software make sensor size irrelevant for my types of photography. YMMV.}
If I am travelling, the Sony RX-100 M1 (2012) is definitely my go-to camera. On a recent trip to North America, it was the only camera I took with me, and it is so light and easy to carry that it was a game changer. Obviously, there are tradeoffs, but the quality of the final image is still excellent. It is 28-100 equivalent with a Leica lens and though I really do wish it went to 24mm, and I sorely miss an EVF (particularly in bright sunlight) the payoff, in weight and convenience, balances it out. Because of the size - smaller than a smartphone - it is always possible to have it with you.
Workflow:
As i use only cameras with smaller sensors, noise reduction is an absolute must. I shoot in RAW on both the RX100 and the GX9.
1. Run the RAW file through ON1 Raw and process for Sharpness and Noise Reduction. Export as TIFF file.
2. (Usually) Import the TIFF file into EASYHDR3 and adjust to personal taste.
3. Export as TIFF.
4. Use Fastone Image Viewer to save a jpg copy. This step is necessary as my favoured Image Manipulation tool - IrfanView - loses the exif when converting from TIFF to JPG.
5. Import the JPG into IrfanView for straightening, cropping, resizing etc.
