The Oxford University Ice Hockey Club (OUIHC) is home to five student-lead ice hockey teams: the Oxford University Blues (a.k.a. the Men's Blues), the Women's Blues, the Vikings A, the Vikings B, and the Vikings C. The club traces its history back to 1885, when they played their first match against the Cambridge University Ice Hockey Club in St Moritz, Switzerland. The IIHF formally recognise this match as the first ice hockey match in Europe, and OUIHC is recognised as one of the oldest ice hockey clubs in the world.
The club now competes regularly as one of the largest clubs in the British University Ice Hockey Association, and each team still holds an annual varsity matches against Cambridge. Teams regularly take part in international tournaments and training camps, such as the annual training camp hosted in Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz. The club also has a strong alumni program, with regular alumni events held in both Europe and North America.
