I was inspired to write this verse from this photo taken at the start of summer 2012,
If you are walking along nature's path,
Bend down, look at my beauty,
I am here only for a very short time,
I am here for you and all to see,
I am alive and what life is all about,
The little things that make,
Your moment bright and memorable.
Orka Korak, my first Flickr poem

My name is Orka Korak aka Paul.
The Orca Whale is my favorite sea creature. Hence my pseudonym Orka. I used the Slavic spelling of the whale. Korak is Slavic for step. The step signifies my entry into photography. A whale of a step!
I have been shooting film photography as a hobby since my late teens. I loved shooting with 120 film because It produced 1" negatives.
My first digital camera was purchased in 2003. It was the Canon PowerShot A300, a 3.2 mega pixel camera. It produced superb photos for its time.
I credit the A300 for getting me into serious photography because I could correct my mistakes on the spot, unlike film pricy film photography.
I used many types of cameras since; Fujifilm, Olympus, Samsung, to name a few, but always love the Canon products the most.
I got into serious digital photographer in 2007 when I acquired the Canon EOS T1i aka 500D.
I quickly found the limits of the T1i and got the rapid-fire Canon 7D (8 frames per second).
I continued to upgrade to what I use today, the full frame Canon 6D. This is truly an amazing camera for its price.
My shooting techniques have greatly improved over the years with the acquisition of many expensive lenses.
Technique is very important and so is the equipment.
A recommendation to all up-and-coming photographers, buy the best camera and lenses that you can afford upfront.
I joined Flickr on February 2009 and still love every moment of it.
I enjoy all the unique and creative work found on Flickr..
I appreciate the great outdoors and the beauty that nature lends us.
I have the following cameras:
Canon EOS 6D
Canon EOS 7D
Canon 500D aka Rebel T1i (500D)
I use the following lenses lens by Canon:
EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM
EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
EF 50mm f/1.8II
EF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Telephoto
EFS 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Non Canon Lenses:
Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS telephoto
Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 AT-X 116Pro DX Aspherical
77mm Hoya Pro1 Circular Polarizer fliter
I use Manfrotto Mono/Tri pods with Manfrotto midi ball head.
I appreciate your opinions on my photos and will take constructive criticism to heart. That will hopefully make me a better shutterbug.
Good luck and clear shooting to one and all on Flickr!

Aaah!! Orkakorak!! If you guys have read his profile... you would know... his profile name implies..."A whale of a step". :) And he was referring to the step he took to join flickr. And what a step it was. :) :) :) I don't know how to say it in slavic... but I have to say this to you Orkakorak... I have a whale of a time at your stream. :) And friends... you know what seperates Orka's stream from the many run of the mill streams on flickr ... the affection with which he captures the pics. :) It's like each pic is talking to you... With each one Orka is telling you a story with each one of them. Be it a simple pic of a dog playing in a stream or a romantic path winding down the woods. Wet leaves dripping with rain water or White gulls diving for the kill. Each pic, each series, has something to tell you. And that makes his pics... memorable. :) Isn't that what we all want our pics to be?? ... "Memorable" ?? Orkakorak... here's wishing you many many clickalicious years to come!! :)
