Hey! My name is Opal and I live in the rocky mountains of Canada. I love a lot of things, mainly making art and witnessing the strength of the human spirit. I am incredibly inspired by the amazing diversity of faces in this world and by nature, which are ultimately related. I am most familiar with film photography, but enjoy experimenting with all forms of cameras. My first love is portraits, but if theres no one around I am inclined to self-portraiture. I have learned a great deal about lighting, my nikon and myself through this style. When it comes to editing, I am a strong believer in maintaining the organic nature of the photo process (in order for it to truly be called photography, as the digital realm of photo making in my mind is an art of its own) and try keep to only using functions in photoshop that you would find in a dark room. I believe in magic and love and above all, light.

I am so grateful for this magic forum that is Flickr, it has really opened my eyes to so much incredible talent, beauty, and insight, and has given me a truly positive place to just be an artist, to keep challenging myself, to watch my progress and to express myself in a way I hadn't before with photography. All I desire by being here is to be a part of the abundant inspiration that is FLICKR! :)
