October 2019. It's been a while since I dusted off my work-related flickr account so thought I'd start by updating my About. I work for a tech company and I'm chronically that person lagging behind the rest of the group walking from the community event to the restaurant getting lost in the color and light and shapes of a new place. Some kind person always worries I'll get lost. But getting a little lost is part of the adventure.

Prior to returning to the corporate world in 2014, I worked as an independent consultant to a number of open source projects related to the public sector. I spent a number of years focusing on helping governments (state, local and federal) adopt open source software and development methodologies; wrote and conducted international case studies in this area. I still help out public sector folks whenever I'm able - it's not easy work and they deserve our help.

I also serve as advisor or board member to a number of non-profits who use open source software at their core to carry out their mission in the public interest. I think it's important, and for me, meaningful. I do a fair amount of public speaking and like to use my love of photography and the people I meet to help promote their mission too.

2022 update: I had a lovely run working in corporate tech and this year have returned to my roots in open source focusing on public policy and civic society. Missed a lot of time behind a camera during the pandemic, starting to get out in the world once again and see my friends.
