Variety is the spice of life, and there is no lack of either of those things in Raquel's work!! She has a great eye for an interesting shot. Her photostream is full with a vast array of beautiful images across different photographic genres. That said, I bet she'll be the first to admit she has a slight obsession with sunsets! LOL! But who doesn't? I know I do! And why not, when they are all so different. No two sunsets are ever the same, even if taken from the same location! She will always provide informative or witty captions to accompany her images, making them a real joy to behold. They have brought a big smile to my face many a time! I consider it an honor to write a testimonial for Raquel in relation to photography. I could write several different testimonials on many different aspects of Raquel’s life as she is so well rounded but this is the secret to her exceptional photography. I remember being drawn into Raquel’s photostream by an intense image of the cremation of Japanese soldiers remains from WWII. It was both horrific in subject but the style of photography gave respect and grace to these soldiers who lost their lives. I was immediately drawn into the rest of her portfolio and found myself captivated by the amazing amount of intimacy in her work. A touch, no gift, that I strive for but Raquel has bottled it and is present in all of her work. I look forward to seeing what she is going to surprise me with today, as her range of expertise knows no bounds. On one day I could be watching the detonation of unexploded ordinance and the next I viewing the graceful curls of a young child at a wedding. (and now and then a slice of pizza) She reveals the daily living on a small Pacific island, and she has educated me into much of the culture of the far east. She also has a wonderful, often caustic sense of humor and she possesses a resilient spirit that keeps her a shining light in the face of adversity. I am proud to have Raquel for a friend (And sparring partner) On top of it all ... She's a darn good photographer with a natural sense of what makes a great photograph ... Even if it's a cheeseburger.
