My photostream tends to exist mostly as a documentation of my daily life. Not necessarily because I want it to, but more because my camera sometimes tags along as I work my way through my day. In other words, I don't go out of my way to find photographic moments, they have to come to me.

For me Flickr is not only a way to learn more about photography, human nature, and life in general, I also use it as a medium to stay in touch with my family and friends.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT, which allows me to take the photos I want (for the most part) with a minimum of fuss. I rarely do any post editing mainly because I don't have the time.

I usually only make "contacts" of people whose photos interest me in some way. Unless I really love your photos, you will likely only remain a contact if you at least occasionally show some interest in mine.
