Practicing Artist based in the West Midlands. I worked with Andy Hamilton to run his Jazz Club at Bearwood Corks Club in Smethwick, which we still keep going. Much of my video and photography is music oriented.
The earlier work on my Flickr site was taken with a Fuji F11 compact camera, designed with the emphasis on light handling. I moved up to a Lumix LX3 cos it's great - cracking lens and great light handling. Also the lack of a big zoom has got me thinking about the bigger picture again. I also use my iPad and a helmet cam.
When photographing musicians in action I like working on continuous shooting partly because I'm more likely to get a shot where I'm holding the camera nice and still, and partly because it takes the timing of the shot out of my control. This means I'm more likely to catch something of subject rather than my personal view of the subject - I hope you know what I mean.
You'll also find photos of the Edgbaston Reservoir, a little bit of country in the heart of the city. It was built by Telford to supply the canal system in a city which proudly boasts more canals than Venice. It's a micro-environment in which the weather and the effects of it's surroundings make for some amazing photography.
The world around me whilst I'm cycling also finds it's way into what I do.
You'll find more photography on my site and some video as well as video on my Vimeo and Youtube sites.
