Travel for me is a spiritual adventure. Never do I feel more connected to the vast river of life than when I’ve found myself on the streets and byways of Asia where my travels have taken me. For most of these trips, photography was a secondary pursuit, albeit an important one — a way to record friends, places, and unusual moments that evoked an essence. My camera has accompanied me through India, Nepal, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Thailand, the American West, and, more recently, Egypt and East Africa - like a close friend who was always nearby to share a moment.
Occasionally, I stumbled onto something truly amazing, even breathtaking — and I was able to capture this on film (or a digital card). Such photographs came to me as gifts, and I share them with you in that spirit. Some of the older shots have been difficult to scan well, but I include them here because they capture a particular moment in my journey.
I would like to further develop my eye as an artist, stretching my vision and learning the technical tools of the digital age and so that such gifts arrive more frequently and the result is more polished. I've been so inspired by what I've seen at Flickr, and carried this inspiration into my recent travels.
I thank this community for its generosity and honor the creative fires that burn within each of you.
