An endolith, or cryptoendolith, is a type of archaea, bacteria, or fungus that lives inside rock. Endolithic life has been found more than a mile beneath the Earth’s crust. These organisms of the deep subsist without air, light, or water, dividing only one or two times per century.

Most of my images are under Creative Commons noncommercial by default, so you can use them for non-commercial purposes without even asking. I'd prefer that you show me what you've done with it, though; it's nice to directly see people benefiting from the things I work on, instead of just seeing the number of page views increase.

If you want me to release an image under a more permissive license (like commercial CC for Wikipedia, etc), just ask; I'm agreeable.
