I am a cynic at heart, but experiencing Olivia's photostream (and, to a degree, her life) gives me a little hope about this country's younger generation. I like her photos immensely, and I have thoroughly enjoyed her growth as an artist/photographer, but it is her wit, charm, intelligence and grace that most satisfies.

Olivia is my favorite photographer. This testimonial could end there, but I'll gladly gush a bit more about her. Olivia has incredible artistic talent and a wonderful eye for for photography. It's because of her work that I bought a decent camera and created a flickr account. If you were to throw Olivia and 99 other photographers in Millenium Park for the first time, the other 99 would run over to fill up their film and memory cards with shots of the Bean. Olivia, on the other hand, would find a wonderful shot of a butterfly sitting on some branches, with 99 photographers swarming around in a lovely bokeh behind the butterfly. I only wish that Flickr would make it possible for me to favorite her entire photostream.

I honestly don't know when I first found Olivia's photos, but the "from Illinois, with love" set hooked me. As a local, born and bred in the same good ol' state, I LOVED the variety of shots: she included city-life Chicago, ritzy Oakbrook, rural rivers. In fact, I loved the set so much that later that day I found myself describing the set to friends: "you have to see it," I told them. Since then the shots I've viewed have only impressed me more. Amazing, beautiful, vibrant.

I first came across Olivia's hilarious Mexico pictures. Over time I've gotten to know the rest of her photostream quite well. She sees the world in spectacular vibrant colors and we all benefit from it. I've certainly learnt to appreciate color a lot more since I tend toward the more muted and subtle.
