Oliver Contreras is an independent photojournalist and multimedia journalist based in Washington, D.C., and also works as contract Photo Editor at The Washington Post.

 

During the past nine years as a photojournalist he has been focused mainly in political news and stories of particular interest to the Hispanic community. He has been recording the experiences of Latino immigrants in the United States.

 

His projects has taken him to Central America, the U.S.-Mexican border, the Caribbean, and cities across the United States where he has uncovered immigrants’ sacrifice, determination, and dedication.

 

Originally from Chile, he is a freelance photojournalist working for New York Times, The Washington Post, AFP, Bloomberg, Getty Images, SIPA USA, and also had collaborated with National Geographic, Time Magazine, among others.

 

Oliver has a M.A. in New Media/Photojournalism at the George Washington University-Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, in Washington D.C.
