I grew up in the professional geologist’s family and I guess it is all started with my parents, long time ago. Being in many expeditions across the different mountain regions they always carry a camera and some film, slides mostly. As it was well before the digital era erupted I still recall as in winters we spent hours projecting these colorful images on the wall… I was in age of 10 at that time and since then the film photography was always around me while the information technologies become my real profession. However, I always feel a great passion towards the classical photography which I cherished for decades as the serious hobby.

Here just a few quick facts - after shooting 35mm film for about twenty years I was trying myself within digital photography however soon I return to film, but this time it was the medium and large formats only. At home I maintain archive of thousands negatives, both color and b&w. Somehow I love the old-fashioned cameras made out of bare wood and metal, always carrying around several TLR Rolleiflexes (6x6) and Deardorff V8 (8x10).

Besides the obvious interest in taking pictures my heart was always along the printing techniques. For many years I do film developing and polish my silver-gelatin photography printing skills in classical (wet) darkroom in basement. These days I am taking another deep dive into the alternative photography processes also. Overall, I work with film and paper media for 30+ years already developing a great passion and drive towards them. I value beautifully printed silver-gelatin prints, could dodge and burn, as wells as scan and Photoshop, of course. I understand the importance of media archival and always follow the preservation guidelines for matting and framing by Library of Congress. I love travelling and along with my trusty Mr. Deardorff someday dream to visit all US National Parks capturing their beauty on film, the media I care a lot.

And last but not least, I have to travel to Antarctica one day! Have you ever been there? Neither am I!
