The Oikos Project

in association with The Junction

A Salvaged Stage in the Heart of Southwark

Oikos (pronounced ee-kos) is the root word of economy and ecology. Embracing these principles, we have embarked on an exciting theatre project: a unique mix of public-made art, architecture and performance that explores how a new sustainable society can flourish in a world altered by climate change.

This summer we take over a Southwark playground in the heart of London, where award-winning Berlin-based architects Köbberling and Kaltwasser will work alongside volunteers to create The Jellyfish Theatre, the UK’s first fully-functioning theatre made entirely from recycled and reclaimed materials.
