I am a current member (Captain) of Civil Air Patrol, Oho Wing. I was a cadet from 1968 til 1972, reaching the Michell level. I left the program when I went away to college. Then came the wife, then kids, and I never got back to it. I re-joined right after 9/11 because I wanted to serve in some way, and by then I was too old to join the military. Since 2001, I've served in a number of positions, including Deputy Commander of Cadets, Cadet Programs Officer, Emergency Services Officer, Squadron Commander, Ground Team Leader.

In the past few years, I'ved become interested in collecting Civil Air Patrol patches, primarily individual squadron and group patches. As a cadet, my squadron didn't have a patch. Now, my current squadron, which just celebrated it's 20th anniversary, is finally designing a unit patch.
