I'm a "re-directed" ("retired" sounds so terminal) college educator, Professor Emeritus Theatre & Communication San Antonio College 1972-2005. Since 2005, I have re-directed much of my old working time and free times, focusing on my livelong love of photography --without feeling any need to earn a living at it! I have long marveled at how a camera could capture a moment in time and then provide new moments in time when the photo is processed and shared.
Thus my mantra: capturing nOw for nOw
For me, photography is so much more than a really fun hobby. The whole process of photography serves as a catalyst for contemplation, meditation, therapy, mindfulness, social interaction and feelings of connectedness to all that is one.
I have been told often, "You have an eye for beauty." I have learned to intuitively keep my eyes peeled, allow my minds eye to create a slice of life or an impression or abstraction. And then, in blink of an eye, a click of the camera, capture it for future savoring.
