Sad story:

I stopped photography in 2005ish when someone stole my Olympus Ecru. I had a bunch of gift cards inside the camera, as I was collecting gift cards to buy free film basically. I loved my Olympus Ecru, it's a very limited edition, odd looking, white camera. Thought I misplaced the camera one day and tore the house down looking for it when I found out my neighbor thought I had people over a few weeks earlier when I was unpacking (just moved at the time). I didn't. They took my camera, 3 broken ipods and a guitar. All were kept under my bed in a rubbermaid bin.

Been trying to get an Olympus Ecru for the past year but financial times are tough. Have to job hunt first.

Olympus Ecru, not my photo but I can stare at it all day.

Happy Story:

I saw a video made by Makezine on how to make Caffenol. Inspired me to whip out my Pentax K1000 and take some black and whites. Turned out great! Then I started testing out a couple toy cameras. Discovered how much I love toy cameras. I liked getting toy cameras from goodwill, burn a roll of film, get the film developed, and give the camera along with the photos away as a gift.

From there I got back into fixing and repairing cameras, then modifying cameras. I bought a Sprocket Rocket and I was getting more and more back into film photography.

Discovered the Film Photography Podcast but only watched the youtube videos. Lost my job and started listening to the podcasts all day long. Now I'm all caught up and obsessed with film photography. It's amazing how much photography education I retained.

I got my sister into film photography. As soon as she gets batteries, we're going out on a photo hunt.

I can't wait to get an Epson v600 scanner. I have so many rolls of film I developed myself. I had a roll scanned onto CD but was disappointed with the quality. I hate bad JPEG compression. I TIFF/PNG everything.

Girlfriend is into digital photography. I don't like the concept of looking at every photo you take and deleting most of them while nature continues to pass you by. So film for me. Also you get no joy from 'developing' SD cards like you do when developing film. There is no E-6 or C-41 process for a 4gig SD card. So boring...

Me:

DJing is my side job. I'm a self taught audio engineer and computer builder. I build a recording studio and (pirate) radio station in the past for a few friends.

Love bartending and cooking as well. I make a mighty fine pizza dough and bangin' sushi rolls.

I love shows about the universe and shows about insects.
