An Outlook:
A new experiment, a different influence, or a change in direction. Everyday, every moment, something new happens.
Maybe it is not new at all. Maybe it’s the same thing from a different perspective. Through someone else’s eyes. I am in someone else’s shoes and suddenly I see it’s all controversial.
Or maybe I am just imagining it the way I daydreamt it.
I want to see things from an alternative viewpoint. I choose to capture these viewpoints through a medium that attracts any given audience. But mostly I want to see a reaction. A question, a critique, an explosion of emotions. Anything goes as long as it makes someone else think twice. I aim to modify the norm through photography and design. I see my music as patterns that can be uniquely and freely visualized from different angles.
My photography, music, and design work are an attempt to dig deeper into what we all see before our eyes.
Brand Obofili:
Obofili – the syllable used to make the ‘o’ sound in Thaana script – is a symbol of things that are close to my soul. The syllable is the Dhivehi in me. The script inspires my design work. It evokes a certain association with the 1,190 islands that I live in.
Obofili is an acknowledgement to my first experiences and attempts in the field of art and design. It is my way of thanking them. I learned to want to challenge myself creatively and limitlessly through these experiences.
