It all started by having my tonsils removed.

Perhaps it was the morphine, or the giddy thrill of being signed off work for two weeks, but something caused me to buy my first SLR camera as soon I left hospital, tonsils in hand.

Photography had always fascinated me, and as a teenager I'd held lofty dreams of working for National Geographic one day, until the photography classes were all cancelled at my school in New Zealand the year before I could start them. So after 11 years of ignorance and overexposed, thumb obscured, washed out pictures taken with disposable point 'n shoots, I rediscovered my lost love of the photograph.

I've not stopped since.

If you enjoy my pictures, if they give you pause for thought, a smile, a frown, or a different perspective, therein lies the real pleasure for me. Welcome to the journey along the light fantastic, let's hope it's a long one.

My only regret, is that I didn't get a shot of my tonsils before they were gone.
