Nuno Perestrelo is portuguese and he was raised around Lisbon, Portugal, where he was born in 1988. Nowadays, he is a freelancer and a master student of Photojournalism in Sweden.

His school and academic formation has been related to humanities and communication studies. From 2006 to 2010, he studied Communication Sciences at Universidade da Beira Interior (Covilhã, Portugal). Through that time he has been living for one year at Catalonia’s capital, Barcelona. Erasmus program and experience was the reason for that.

After finishing his first degree, in the beginning of 2010, he did three internships as a journalist, writing. The first one at the regional press in “Setúbal na Rede ”. He then tried a little bit of television, his next internship: “Sociedade Civil ”, a daily program transmitted on the public portuguese television. By the end of the summer, he was starting his last internship, this time at “Público ”, one of the main daily portuguese newspapers.

Currently, he is a contributor for V – Photo Agency, and works as a freelancer. He became specialized on documenting the scouts movement's world and culture . For his work, he has been supported by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and by the two major portuguese scout associations, CNE (Corpo Nacional de Escutas) and AEP (Associação dos Escoteiros de Portugal), whose reality he has been documenting.

In September 2012, he began his studies in Photojournalism as master student at Mittuniversitetet, in Sweden. He's part of the first class of master students ever from the Sweden School of Photojournalism.
