Noma's kennel was established in 1987 with the decision to breed our first American Water Spaniel (AWS), Noma's Sweet Georgia Brown. Our first litter was born on November 28, 1989. We are now seeing five generations of progeny originating from our foundation bitch "Noma's Sweet Georgia Brown."

My interest in the AWS stems from the 1940's when I was a child. My parents owned, loved, and hunted with AWS. They were affectionate family dogs. My dad used to always brag,"e; they were the best little huntin' dog that ever was.&quote. We agree.

We are a hunting family dedicated to keeping the hunt in the dog. We also believe in good conformation (muscular/skeletal balance) for stamina and field performance. A healthy, well-balanced dog is our goal, and should be the goal of any reputable breeder. A good breeder will look closely at temperament, hunting instinct, overall health and conformation. A thorough evaluation of each parent should be done.

Hip xrays and clear hearts of all of all breeding stock registered with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). Ask for proof. Eyes need to be checked by a veterinary opthamologist and registered with the Canine Eye Registry Foundation (CERF). The eye registration should be current, which means within the last year.

We are slowing down a bit and producing only an occasional litter. Feel free to contact us regarding future breeding plans.
