The NOAA Satellite & Information Service (referred to as NESDIS) is a line office under the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NESDIS is dedicated to providing timely access to global environmental data from satellites and other sources to promote, protect, and enhance the Nation's (United States) economy, security, environment, and quality of life.

NESDIS manages NOAA's constellation of environmental satellites and their subsequent data.

The Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-R Series (GOES-R) is the next generation of geostationary weather satellites. The first satellite in the GOES-R series is scheduled to launch in November 2016. The program is a collaborative development and acquisition effort between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The advanced spacecraft and instrument technology employed by the GOES-R series will provide significant improvements in the detection and observations of environmental phenomena that directly affect public safety, protection of property and our nation’s economic health and prosperity. The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is our Nation's next generation polar-orbiting operational environmental satellite system. JPSS is a collaborative program between NOAA and its acquisition agent NASA. JPSS represents significant technological and scientific advances in environmental monitoring and will help advance weather, climate, environmental and oceanographic science. JPSS will provide operational continuity of satellite-based observations and products for NOAA Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellites (POES) and the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (S-NPP) mission.
