I'm Raul.

I haven't been doing this for very long and in that little bit of time, I've taken considerable amounts of time off, to me anyway, to catch up in my other priorities. I'm proud of how far I've come in such little time by mere self education, observance, and experimentation. The only thing I want more to do than this is fulfill my God-given purpose which to this day is quite daunting regardless of the fact that I don't know much of the details.

As of late I've come to realize that I'd rather have a huge lot of film and a handful of select film cameras with about 3 or 4 lenses to each body rather than a ton of digital stuff, but I have to live within my means for the time being and so I'll do what I can here in the digital world, fighting the noise rather than embracing the grain.

I think flickr is an awesome place, though there's tons of room for improvement. I've learned a lot just reading through group forums and following outside links. The people here tend to be quite friendly and I couldn't possibly keep track of how many amazing artists I've come across in just a short period of time. One photo leads to another leads to a group leads to another user leads to another pool leads to another collection leads to several sets leads to several more photographers leads to a search and etc...

I look forward to meeting and speaking with more of you in the near future, and I ask that if we're contacts or friends, please please honor me with your critiques whether they be harsh or constructive. I'm not one to cry over a mistake made, so feel free to point any out.

8/15/09: In the past several months this love of film has really caught up with me. Along the way, polaroid and instant film has also become a favored medium. I think I've lost count of the polaroid cameras I now own, but the only ones that get a lot of love are the SLR 680's. Shooting with an SLR and getting up close can't be beat.

I've also acquired a beautiful East German monster called the Pentacon Six TL. She hasn't always been good to me or the film I put through her, but when she's good, she's fantastic. I plan on adopting a twin sister so she'll have company and if the money comes, a pretty 180mm Zeiss Sonnar will join her as well.

Until later...

... but feel free to ask, because I'm not very selfish with my images. I'd love the world to see what I see.
