Hmmm?...Nate... Well, we quickly became friendly when I started here in 2009. Now that I think about it, he is likely the longest standing friend that I have here. It has always been my belief that art succeeds most when it does the job of bridging or sparking personal thought without trying too hard to force the viewer to feel something in particular. Good art shouldn't have to explain itself too much. It should effortlessly facilitate inner thought, feeling and emotion. If art has to tell me what to feel, then it comes across as contrived & artificial. It's a rare talent that can facilitate a viewer to be willingly transcended from the page. And so, these images of Nathan are an exercise in lifting my soul and spirit to moments of clarity. ...and he's a dude !!

"Nathan is one of the best Black and White Photographer in flickr community that I had enjoyed so much looking at his work. And this testimonial has been long overdue for someone whom deserving of such. His creative flair is an embodiment of his personality; the genuineness of his character is manifested in all his work with all these sums up to his eye for composition and pure/fantastic talent to capture and deliver exceptional photographs. I do believe that without the eye for composition through the viewfinder; with good skill on the camera, you still do not work out a fantastic art piece. In all his work, his desire had conveyed to us the intended message and shared it to everyone. A poet! I truly love and admire his work and passion for photographing; and never fails to visit his stream regularly to check if he has any new post and will starts to wonder what he is up to when there is a long silence from him.... Last and definitely not the least, thank you Nathan, for sharing your amazing talent, and most importantly, your friendship. I am really glad to have met you here at Flickr! Blessings to you my dear friend and keep up the good work ! ! Truly, Thomas ps: if any chances you guys visit his work, sit back and relax with a brilliant cuppa on hand; have all his work in auto preview, it definately worth your time....seriously!"

His mastery goes beyond that technically, he is a true poet of images. As my teachers taught me, a great talent but a genius is born ....... The virtuosity born of practice, the genius is a gift that some have and develop a few .... I invite everyone to observe their work closely. Look at it more than if it were a picture and let your work speak. Learn to listen and discover a wondrous world where darkness and light dialogue in a exquisite way. It was always said that photography is a moment stopped, in this case we are facing a frozen feeling that Nathan shows with seemingly effortless ease and that only the genius and virtue have ...... I'm going to keep this simple because there is already a seriously long list of highly talented individuals that have added their words below and frankly it's all been said.... Simply put, Nathan is a master of producing images which are consistently of the highest quality. I read a piece of advice last year which said words to the effect of "even the best photographers produce average images from time to time but the best photographers never show people their average work, only their best". By this definition alone, Nathan is amongst the best, though in truth I doubt he produces anything which might be described as 'average' regardless, only magic ;) Keep up the great work man and thank you for your support...

Way overdue but I found it so hard to find the right words that would do justice to Nathan's wonderful work, talent and personality. And I still haven't found them but I'll give it a try: I've seldom met anyone else on Flickr who mastered the art of long exposure photography so fast and with such subtlety. Not only does he know when and how to use a long exposure but Nathan also has a great sense for using beautiful dark B&W tones and striking contrasts in his work. But the thing that strikes me the most in his work is his ability to create a magical and mystical mood in his photos. Just take a look at his Point Lobos series, a wonderful and mystical study of rocks and tides that are among the best in this genre. Or take a look at Solar Dreams, that is simply breathtaking and highly original photography and postprocessing. But Nathan has more to offer than only great long exposure photos. His use of negative space for example in some of his work has resulted in some of the most striking photos I've ever seen on Flickr. Just take a look at his Negative Space set and you will fall in love with his work. I could go on forever talking about his work but it wouldn't do him justice if I didn't mention Nathan's warm, kind and enthusiastic personality: He's a true Flickr friend who really cares about his contacts and has the ability to motivate them. I'm looking forward to see more of Nathan's work, I have this gut feeling that he will produce work that will impress the world of photography one day. It's a true honour to know you Nathan, - Joel Tjintjelaar

So this guy Nathan... What can I really say about Nathan? Well, if I were a poet I could use his imagery to visually speak my work. If I were a novelist, chapters could be written on his character and art. If I were a public speaker I could masterfully lecture about his skills as a photographer and his creative mind. If I were a neurosurgeon... Well... I don't think I'd risk altering that brain any more than it is. I can say that Nathan is a supremely gifted artist and seems to have a wit and fascinating intellect to match. He is a true artist and asset in our Flickr community. His work is beautiful and contemplative. Fine art resides in his photostream and behind it a wonderful individual. This I am sure of.

If you're looking to view some of the best B&W images anywhere, then I would suggest that you stop by and spend a good hour viewing Nathan's photostream. Without a doubt, Nathan has shot probably the best you will ever find in B&W California seascapes. Although Nathan is one of the best photographers on Flickr he is very humble and has no problem sharing with others just how the shot was made. Technically, Nathan is one of the best at utilizing the ND filter and if you're one who enjoys the foamy water shots, you won't be disappointed. Living along the central coast of California has provided Nathan with ample opportunities to wow us with his great shots. Keep a watch on him, he'll be one of the greats!

I don't write many testimonials! There are so many good photographers on flickr it is just so hard to work out where to start. So, why have I chosen to write one about Nathan's work? Quite simply it is his individualistic style. Nathan uses deep dark tones in a way that adds stunning atmosphere, deep mood or isolates a dramatic subject in a manner that I've not seen elsewhere on flickr and to superb effect. That personal style to our work is something many of us strive for - all I can say is to look to Nathan's photography for your inspiration.

Nathan is a gifted photographer - he is an artist. His work is stunningly beautiful, at times raw and vulnerable, always inspiring and thoughtful. His work in bw and high contrast bw is outstanding and phenomenal. Nathan captures the rawness of nature on the coast in California so well - his shots of waves breaking over rocks, solitary trees in the mist, architecture often evoke awe and wonder in me. I also love Nathan's colour images - he uses colour to his advantage and has a gift for knowing what is just the right amount of colour through his choice in subject. Nathan is also an incredibly generous spirit and friend - very supportive and encouraging of my work and those of others here on Flickr. His inspired images and support have helped me in my work and I've discovered other wonderful photographers through his work and made other contacts for which I am most grateful. I look forward to seeing more awesome images in his growth as a photographer as he's honing his gift and passion for photography. Thank you Nathan for sharing your images and passion for this medium with so many of us - I am honoured to know you and your work.
