I guess by now many of you have noticed that I’m starting to enhance my photos using my avatar as the subject. I’ve also heard from a few of you (not too many, thank goodness 😌) asking why I’ve changed direction and am no longer keeping it strictly SL. I just wanted to answer some of those questions here.
Firstly, I truly enjoy it, and that matters most to me. I don’t post for likes or comments, although they are always appreciated. I post for myself, for my memories, and for the simple joy of creating. I also love that my real-life family can enjoy seeing these as well.
Secondly, I simply don’t have the time for SL that I once did. I still log in to do my blogs, which I keep strictly SL out of fairness to designers and potential customers. Beyond that, I don’t really have the same time I used to, so I’m happy to create images of my avatar and turn them into pictures that feel deeply thought out and carefully composed.
Yes, AI is playing a part in this, but isn’t it becoming part of almost everything these days? We can choose to embrace it or resist it, but I truly believe it is part of the future. I really dislike the term ‘AI slop’ because I find it quite insulting, and it certainly does not reflect what my pictures are. I put a lot of thought, care, and effort into my prompts and post-editing, probably more than some people realise.
So, without going on too much more, I’m simply moving forward creatively. That doesn’t mean you’ll never see SL photos from me again. I still love shifting the narrative but also love placing my avatar in scenes, places, or situations that you might never be able to create within SL itself.
I also want to say a heartfelt thank you, and give a big hug, to those who have continued to follow, like, and comment on my work regardless. I see you, and I feel genuinely honoured by your kindness and loyalty. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, why can’t we all just 'live and let live'? There is already so much in this world that can bring us down without judging someone else’s work because it doesn’t feel ethical to them. But that, my dear friends, is another story.
