Who am I?

I am a 24 year old German student and just finished my

bachelor of Communication and Multimedia Design in

Aachen. Before that I graduated at high school in Bonn,

and made an apprenticeship as media designer.

I always liked to take pictures, but not very seriously. In

1998, I spent half a year at a high school in the US and

took part at a photography class, where we shot in black

and white and developed the films and pictures ourselves.

At the time in the US I also discovered digital photography,

since my host father sometimes brought a company's

digital camera home. It was one of that Sony Mavica's

with a floppy drive. The resolution was horrible, but this

new technique really fascinated me.

A year later in Germany I got my first digital camera, the

Sony S70, which was a pretty good camera. Around a year

later, I sold it and upgraded to the S75. The only thing I did

not like about these two cameras were Sony's candy colors.

Therefore I sold it again and bought a Canon G2. This

camera delivered more realistic colors and had a nice

swivel screen. Before Photography was just for fun, but my

uncle asked my if I want to take concert pictures for a music

website, which I did. I realized very fast, that the G2 did

not fulfill my needs, saved money from my apprenticeship

and bought my first digital SLR, the EOS 10D. This camera

enabled me to shoot almost everything I want and I kept

it until this year. In 2003 I also started working at a

newspaper as photographer for the local news. The job

didn't challenge me and after my first cover picture, I left.

In the following years I took pictures on my travels to Thailand

and Hong Kong, for my class at university, for brochures,

a magazine and a calendar.

Just a few month ago i switched to the EOS30D, which is

my current camera.
