Nightlovers is a new master of her medium, combining childlike wonder with elegant sophistication. A technical virtuoso, she offers a broad spectrum of images, ranging from architectural vistas that have awed the eye and soul for millennia, to portraits of her muse (and familiar) the regal Naomi Campbell. My teacher, Josef Albers, father of the Optical Art Movement, often said, “Art has no subject matter.” Sounding like a slamming door, this concept actually opens all subject matter to the investigation of the relationships between color and form that is the work of the artist. Poised to deliver the miracle of the moment, with keen intelligence and open heart, this photographer chooses the point-of-view, lighting and palette of each subject. The result is hers alone, refined and dramatic, both emotionally stirring and intellectually informative. Great historic works are reborn through her vision. “The Kazan Kremlin” and “The Domes of Ancient Moscow” are realized as sources of contemporary inspiration. Indeed, the works of man, no matter how majestic, when sensed as color and form, existing in ever-changing light, become living and evolving beings, like “the natural world” they inhabit. There is psychological depth to this stream. Many images explore the power of monochrome to evoke states of mood and mind. The rose: “Farewell”. The grey: “China Sea”. The red: “Clear Channel”. The blues”: Melancholia” and “Blue Autumn”. The pink: “Winter Sun Volga River”. With all our skill and high-tech toys we still only human and wonder, “Who is the creator of these ravishing images?” Nightlovers satisfies our curiosity with self portraits, some natural and relaxed, others highly stylized. This beautiful Russian icon is a generous and nurturing communicator, as well. Her comments on my work have encouraged my creativity and through the miracle of Flickr we have recognized each other as friends.

I do not know Nightlovers personally but ‘only’ via her beautiful pictures. Even so I got the feeling to know her and now I consider her as a friend. I have been always attracted by her pictures, by the fantastic way to represent the reality. She shared with us many beautiful, intense, emotional cross-sections of the Moscow beauties (and not only). She has a direct and instinctive style but still very tastefully . I am glad to be in contact with her and to share impressions on each other pictures. A great way to learn. Thank you! :)
