I was born and bred in Loughborough which is a Town in the East Midlands of the UK. I am married to Rosie and have one son Neil. During my working life I worked for the Brush Electrical Engineering Company in Loughborough for nearly 34 years. During that time I worked in different departments of the company I was initially trained and worked as an Engineers Machinist, after which I became an Inspector in the assembly shops, then for the remining 14 years with them I became a Laboratory Technician in the Central Laboratories of B.E.M. My main duties in the Laboratory consisted of testing materials, assisting in the investigation of failed components and photography.
On leaving the B.E.M I worked at a day centre for adults with learning difficulties firstly as an escort on the bus collecting the clients and returning them home at the end of the day, then as a bus driver/escort and finally as well as my bus duties I obtained my NVQ 2 in Caring and also worked as a carer on the relief staff.
I retired at the age of 64 and very soon after found that my time as a photographer in engineering proved very useful to me as I developed a love for photographing wildlife and nature which I still do to this day.
I joined the Royal Photographic Society several years ago and during my time with them have successfully applied for and gained my LRPS and ARPS (Nature) and am currently very hopefully working my way towards a possible FRPS.
